Who we help
WordPress Site Accessibility
Visitors read your pages, fill in your forms and, on WooCommerce, buy from you. We test those journeys with a keyboard and screen readers, and fix barriers in your theme or child theme.
What we test
Themes and page builders
Headers, menus, footers and the layouts your theme, page builder or the block editor creates. We test shared parts once, because they appear on every page.
Forms
Contact, quote and booking forms from form plugins: labels, required fields, error messages and the confirmation message.
Sliders, pop-ups and cookie banners
Whether a keyboard user can pause a slider, close a pop-up, and accept or reject cookies, then carry on using the page.
WooCommerce stores
Product pages, product options, the cart and checkout, from adding to cart to the order confirmation.
Menus, search and posts
Main and mobile menus, site search, and how your posts and pages use headings, links and images.
Barriers we often find
Barrier
A mobile menu button that a keyboard can't reach, or that a screen reader announces as just "button".
Fix
We fix it in your theme or child theme, so the button works with a keyboard, has a clear name and says whether the menu is open.
Barrier
Form fields with placeholder text but no label, so the hint disappears as soon as a person starts typing.
Fix
We add a visible label to each field and link each error message to its field, in your form plugin's settings or your theme.
Barrier
A slider that moves on its own, with no way to pause it.
Fix
We add a visible pause button, or stop the slider from moving on its own. If the plugin can't do either, replacing it is quoted after the audit.
Barrier
A pop-up that traps the keyboard, so a person can't close it or get back to the page.
Fix
We make the pop-up close with the Escape key and a labeled close button, then send the person back to where they were on the page.
Barrier
A cookie banner a keyboard user can't reach, so they can't accept or reject cookies.
Fix
We make the banner's buttons work with a keyboard and a screen reader. If the banner is another company's tool, we write it up for you to send to them.
Barrier
Product option menus and quantity fields with no labels, so a screen reader user doesn't know what they're choosing.
Fix
We add labels in your theme's store templates, and announce the new price when an option changes it.
What we can't control
- Plugins and outside tools, like payment forms, are other companies' code, and we can't change it. If a problem is in another company's tool, we write it up for you to send to them. If it makes sense, we can also build you an accessible replacement.
- Replacing a plugin or changing your theme is separate work, quoted after the audit.
- Theme and plugin updates can undo our fixes. We use a child theme where we can, and monitoring flags barriers that come back.
- New pages, posts and plugins can add new barriers.
Where to start
Free snapshot
We check up to 10 key pages, like your home page, a post, a form and, for stores, a product page, and send you a plain-English summary.
Accessibility audit
People test your forms, menus and, for stores, cart and checkout with a keyboard and screen readers. From $1,200.
Remediation
We fix what the audit found in your theme or child theme, on a staging copy first, and retest every fix. Replacing a plugin is quoted after the audit.
Questions
Will fixes survive a theme or plugin update?
We make fixes in a child theme where we can, so an update to your main theme doesn't replace them. A plugin update can still undo a fix. Your dated fix log shows every change we made, so it can be redone, and monitoring flags barriers that come back.
What if a plugin causes the problem?
Sometimes we can fix what a plugin adds to the page from your theme. If a problem is in another company's tool, we write it up for you to send to them. If it makes sense, we can also build you an accessible replacement. Replacing a plugin is quoted after the audit.
Do you work on our live site?
No. We make fixes on a staging copy of your site. You review them there, and nothing goes live until you approve it.
Do you work on WooCommerce stores?
Yes. We test product pages, the cart and checkout from start to finish, and fix what your theme controls. Payment forms are usually another company's tool, so we write those up for you to send to them.
How much does a WordPress audit cost?
It depends on how many page templates your site uses. Your blog posts usually share one template, even if you have hundreds. Audits start at $1,200 for up to 10 page templates.
We provide technical accessibility services, not legal advice.
